ABOUT THE EPISODE

Friendship can be complicated—especially as adults. In episode 9 of the Not My Story podcast, Sarah sits down with Amanda Anderson—speaker and author of All My Friends Have Issues: Building Remarkable Relationships with Imperfect People (Like Me). Amanda shares her story of how a broken friendship became an unexpected wake-up call to unhealthy relationship patterns with friends, family, and even God. In this conversation, Sarah and Amanda talk about Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA), skewed views on Christian friendship, and how to build healthy relationships as adults.

MEET THE GUEST

Amanda Anderson is writer, speaker, Bible teacher, wife and mama of two teenage girls living in Southern California with her husband of 21 years. Though she planned in high school to be a missionary, God instead placed her in journalism. After college she took a job at an upscale lifestyle magazine as an editor, travel writer, and eventually editor in chief of a parenting magazine called Coast Kids. Unexpectedly, God then called her out of the office world to raise kids, speak to moms, and write her first book, which released in July 2019: All My Friends Have Issues: Building Remarkable Relationships with Imperfect People Like Me. She is currently working on her second book.
